info

Glastonbury Net Radio is dedicated to new and original programming.

Unusual subject matter, new perspectives, radical thinking. Documenting social change, new initiatives, contemporary culture.

Some of our programmes focus on Glastonbury and our community. Some focus on issues of global concern, particularly in the arena of the arts and social change. Glastonbury Net Radio makes and produces documentaries, profiles, features, new writing, compositions.

We have seized this digital opportunity to create a new outlet for original material and to explore the medium of netcasting.

All the programmes produced are archived on our programme page and are available 24 hours a day, worldwide for audio-streaming to your computer.

Glastonbury Net Radio, created in February 99, is an independent internet station run by Sue Palmer and Stephen Clarke of Biggerhouse Productions.

To stream audio and video on the internet, you need to have Real Audio software on your computer.

history

In February 1999, the station based at the Isle of Avalon Website, uploaded its first 4 minute test transmission onto the Internet marking the beginning of a three month experimental project in web-based audio streaming. During this pilot project, the station 'netcast' eleven programmes on the Internet, uploading a new 30 minute programme every Friday night.

Glastonbury Net Radio is one of the only independent Internet Radio Stations of its kind in the UK, transmitting feature and documentary based material.

future

Over the next year we will be producing a new programme every couple of months, building an archive of all our previous programmes as the station develops.

Future programmes will follow the line of documentary, profile and new writing, creating a balance of localized programming with themes and issues of universal importance.

We are committed to:

- Documenting and publicising the arts and social change.
- Profiling people who are at the forefront of 'new thinking'.
- Prioritising unusual writing and drama for radio, exploring soundscapes/compositions.
- Providing an opportunity for other programme makers to contribute to the station.
- Promoting programming made by and for young people.
- Continuing to explore the medium of net-casting, experimenting with content and form.
-

Seeking funding to support the station either by grant or sponsorship.
