bride's mound

Running time: 24mins

This programme is about a little known but very important historic site on the outskirts of Glastonbury, which is also an annual gathering point for February's Celtic Festival of Imbolc.

Bride's Mound is the ancient entrance to the Isle of Avalon, lying west of the town between the vast derelict Morlands industrial area, and the Somerset Levels.

The programme concentrates on the campaign to save part of the site from development, as well as the history, legend and story that surrounds this small but fascinating place.

Sound gathered during the Imbolc celebration is the backdrop for a journey to the edge of Glastonbury.

Programme Date: February '99
