Augusto Boal, the internationally acclaimed Brazilian theatre director, re-opened County Hall, London in November '98 for a Symbolic Session of Legislative Theatre. The Debating Chamber, closed since 1986, during the tenure of Margaret Thatcher, but still intact, is the location for the performance presentation commissioned and produced by Artangel. In a career spanning forty years and four continents, Boal has created, according to Richard Schechner "the theatre that Brecht only dreamed of". |
